The Truth About the Traxxas Ford Fiesta: What No One Tells You

When most people think of Traxxas RC cars, they picture big, tough trucks like the X-Maxx, Stampede, or Traxxas Slash. But Traxxas offers more than just trucks—welcome to the world of rally cars! Today, we’re diving into one of the coolest models in that category: the Traxxas Ford Fiesta.

Traxxas vehicles are known for their power and high performance, and the Ford Fiesta is no exception. While trucks tend to dominate the lineup, not everyone is into oversized off-road beasts or sleek supercars. Some RC enthusiasts crave the thrill of rally racing—and that’s where the Ford Fiesta comes in.

If you’ve ever dreamed of driving a rally car, Traxxas brings you one step closer with this fantastic model. Rally cars are all about fun, speed, and agility, and today we’re going to take a closer look at this little monster to see if it lives up to the hype.

Let’s get into it!

Design Overview

Traxxas Ford Fiesta Body

After checking out other compact rally models like the LaTrax Rally and Teton, I was surprised by how small they felt compared to typical Traxxas RC cars. I started thinking all rally models from Traxxas were tiny.

But that all changed when I saw the Traxxas Ford Fiesta. This car is surprisingly large, and I absolutely love that about it! Its size gives it a real presence, and the design details are just as impressive.

With a high-quality body, aggressive black wheels, a bold rear spoiler, and a low center of gravity chassis, the Fiesta looks like a true rally beast. It’s not just built for looks—it’s built to perform.

Traxxas Ford Fiesta Chassis

Traxxas Ford Fiesta

Underneath the body, you’ll find a chassis that shares its platform with popular models like the Slash and Stampede. But since those are trucks, there are some key differences here for rally performance.

One of the first things you’ll notice is how low the car sits. It hugs the ground so tightly that you can often hear the body gently scraping as you drive—just like a real rally racer.

The chassis also borrows design elements from Traxxas supercars like the Mustang and XO-1, especially the large front bumper that adds both style and protection.

Despite the rally-style modifications, the Fiesta still features familiar Traxxas advantages like waterproof electronics and oil-filled ultra shocks, making it durable and versatile.

Even the rear bumper, though small, offers excellent protection during crashes. And the wheels? They’re rugged, aggressive, and exactly what you’d expect from a high-performance Traxxas car.

Traxxas Ford Fiesta: Performance Breakdown

When it comes to performance, the Traxxas Ford Fiesta delivers a solid and exciting experience—especially for a rally-style RC car.

Under the hood, it’s powered by a Titan® 12-turn 550 brushed motor paired with the XL-5 waterproof electronic speed control. While this setup doesn’t give you blistering top speeds like a dedicated drag racer, that’s not what this car is built for.

Remember, the Ford Fiesta is a rally car, not a street racer. It’s designed for twisty tracks, tight turns, drifting, and off-road agility—not straight-line speed. So if you’re after pure velocity, you might want to check out Traxxas’s Mustang, Stingray, or the insane XO-1.

But here’s the good news: the Fiesta is built for upgrades.

Upgrade-Ready for More Power

This RC beast is fully compatible with a brushless Velineon® power system, which means you can easily swap out the stock motor for a high-performance brushless setup. That alone can transform the way this car drives.

Want more speed and acceleration? You can also upgrade the pinion gear and spur gear for better gearing ratios. This gives you the freedom to customize the performance to match your driving style—whether you want quicker launches or higher top speeds.

Battery Boost

The battery plays a key role in unlocking the Fiesta’s true potential. Just throw in a 2S LiPo battery, and you’ll immediately notice a performance boost—more torque, better throttle response, and longer run times.

With the right upgrades, the Traxxas Ford Fiesta is capable of exceeding 30mph, making it a serious contender on any rally course.

What I Don’t Like About the Traxxas Ford Fiesta

Needs More Power Out of the Box

Yes, you can upgrade the stock Traxxas Fiesta—but for the price, it should come with more power right from the start. A strong stock setup leaves a solid first impression, especially when you’re investing in a higher-end RC car.

No TSM (Traxxas Stability Management)

At this price point, you’d expect TSM to be included. Surprisingly, it’s not.

Now, to be fair, TSM isn’t a must-have here. This rally car is built for drifting more than racing, and since it doesn’t reach super high speeds, it’s already pretty easy to control.

That said, it would still be great if Traxxas included TSM with an On/Off switch. That way, you could enable it when needed and turn it off when you’re in the mood for drifting.

What I Like About the Traxxas Ford Fiesta

4WD System

One of the best surprises about this car is that it comes with a 4-wheel drive system. This gives you excellent performance not just on the track, but also off-road. It adds a ton of value and fun to every drive.

Killer Design

Traxxas nailed the design on this one. It’s honestly one of the best-looking replicas I’ve seen in their lineup. From the body lines to the paint job, the Fiesta looks absolutely stunning.

Tons of Upgrade Potential

This is where the Traxxas Fiesta really stands out—it’s a moddable beast! You can customize almost everything on it. Whether it’s performance or aesthetics, the options are nearly endless.

Some of the top upgrades you can consider:

  • New Body Shell: Swap the body for a custom-painted one to make it truly yours.
  • Brushless Motor: This is a game-changer. Upgrading to a brushless motor will completely transform your RC experience.
  • Pinion Gear: Want more speed? Upgrade your pinion gear and feel the difference.
  • Suspension System: Boost your handling and off-road capabilities with better suspension parts.

All you need is a bit of creativity—and you can make this RC car your own masterpiece.

Final Verdict

While the Traxxas Ford Fiesta has a few shortcomings—like the lack of TSM and modest stock power—it still ranks as one of the best rally RC cars available today. Thanks to its 4WD system, slick design, and high upgrade potential, it offers a fun and customizable experience for RC enthusiasts.

With the right upgrades, you can turn this car into a machine you’re truly proud to show off.
