It also uses four standard body clips to secure the shell. While functional, it would’ve been great to see a clipless body system here for quicker access and a cleaner look.

Structurally, the VXL version is quite different. For instance, the motor placement on the Stampede 2WD is at the rear, while the Traxxas Stampede 4×4 VXL shares the same platform as the Slash 4×4. That means both models have a similar foundational design — but with a few key differences in the details.

What I Don’t Like About the Traxxas Stampede 4×4 VXL

Although the Stampede 4×4 VXL is an outstanding RC truck in many ways, there’s one area that falls short—the body.

The performance this RC car delivers is impressive, but unfortunately, the stock body just can’t keep up. A high-speed crash could severely damage the body within minutes of your first run.

To solve this, consider installing an internal roll cage and an external body mount. Not only will these upgrades add protection, but they’ll also give your RC car a tougher, more aggressive appearance.

What I Love About the Traxxas Stampede 4×4 VXL

Simply put, this RC truck is a blast. One of the things I love most is the integrated system—a lot of RC cars out there don’t offer such a well-rounded package of performance, power, and durability.

And yes, despite some criticism about its width, I personally love the distinctive body design. It’s compact, iconic, and has become a signature look for the Stampede line. For many fans (myself included), it’s part of what makes the Stampede so special—and that style isn’t going anywhere, even as the model continues to evolve!
