Let’s begin with the tires, as they endure a significant amount of stress both during regular driving and when executing extreme jumps with the X-Maxx.
I know many Traxxas RC car enthusiasts enjoy pushing their vehicles to the limit, which places even more strain on various internal components, including the wheels.
Unfortunately, the stock tires aren’t particularly durable, and you could end up damaging them within less than an hour of driving your X-Maxx.
Another major issue with these tires is that they tend to stretch out during high-speed driving. With a large, fast, and costly RC car like the X-Maxx, this can potentially cause severe damage.

Given the high speed, significant weight, and possibly aggressive driving—especially with large jumps—the shocks need to be robust enough to handle the immense pressure. Let me tell you, if you’re still using the stock shocks, they’ll likely break under these conditions!

Traxxas X-Maxx Stub Axle
When you upgrade a component in your Traxxas or any other RC car, keep in mind that improving one part can sometimes weaken other related components. It’s important to be aware of this.
A good example of this is the relationship between the stub axle and the shocks. The stub axle connects the wheels to the rest of the RC car body, meaning it also bears a significant amount of pressure.
If you’re upgrading only the shocks and not the stub axles, you’re creating an imbalance between the two components in terms of power and durability.
